A tradition at Hope Peace Ceremonies is a special Five Round Sweat Lodge for Peace during Memorial Day weekend. We pray to the four directions and open a 5th round to the center, with prayers dedicated to Peace. May is also a good time to rebuild the sweat lodge, so we make a day of it.
9 am Rebuild sweat lodge
1 to 2 pm Start fire, dress lodge
Enter lodge by 4 pm.
6 pm Potluck feast
These times are approximate. If we only have three or four people working, it can take a long time to build the lodge.
Many hands make the sweat lodge building go quickly. It is beautiful to work with the Standing People in this way. If you can't arrive at 9 am, come as early as you can. The more people building and tying the lodge, the earlier we can start the sweat.
Please bring a bag lunch and potluck dish to share for the feast.
Call or email me to RSVP and I will send you details on what to bring to a lodge and directions to Hope Peace Ceremonies.
